There are hundreds of students that have studied at iscd and are happy to share some of their experiences with us. It is important to us that your whole journey through the iscd courses is a happy and fruitful one. This positive and nurturing creative atmosphere has been able to guide students through their studies and into successful careers.
"I heard about iscd from an interior stylist that recommended this as the only school in Australia to study interior style. Until I researched online I had no idea of the potential and diversity that this study could take me.
Through studying at iscd I can say I am a successful stylist and merchandiser working with Villa Interiors. The greatest reward for me is using my skills to help other people. And the greatest compliment is when a client says, 'you have made our house a home."
"I joined iscd with the dream of having a creative career change. Before iscd, I spent my days processing piles of papers as an administrator. My time at iscd opened the door to a whole new world of opportunities by providing me with new skills and exposure to industry contacts that I would not have received at another school. I completed the Foundation Course - Certificate IV in Design and the Interior Styling Diploma. Through the school I was put forward for and got the position of stylist for Australian House and Garden magazine. I am absolutely loving where studying at iscd has taken me!".
"When I came to iscd I knew my goal was to become a professional stylist.
I had an 18 month old son and successfully fitted study, part-time work in acting and motherhood. The study was very rewarding at that time of my life.
At the moment I freelance under my business Vivid Spaces, which I established during my Foundation Course - Certificate IV in Design study, and work in a range of styling jobs. As an interior decorator I style mainly private domestic homes and commercial projects. I create props and wardrobe styling for television shoots, still shoots and corporate presentations. I have consulted for people selling their property and assisted in styling their homes for open inspection and photography.
I also work as a stylist for corporate conferences creating and producing the themes and decoration of the venues and for an organisation that facilitates and mentors Indigenous Australians looking for work in the 'Stylin Up' program.
iscd really showed me that it is possible to get out there and earn money whilst doing something I really enjoy. I love helping people, and my work allows me to do just that!".
