Australian Designers To Watch

Posted by iscd@admin on June 4

Sometimes we all need a little inspiration. Here we have compiled some Australian Designers who are making waves both locally and overseas.

Doherty Design Studio

Based in Melbourne, Doherty Design Studio is a design practice that work across a number of design briefs, covering commercial, retail and residential. Doherty’s portfolio of projects is both stunning and inspiring to look at. The studio is directed by Mardi Doherty who has extensive experience in both Australia and internationally.

Their Beechworth Residence was shortlisted in the Australian Interior Design Awards (AIDA) Residential Decoration Category and is also a finalist in the Dulux Colour Awards. We love their use of bold colour and interesting finishes like the square tiles in the bathroom below. You can see more of their work here.

Ritz&Ghougassian

Ritz & Ghougassian are an Interior Design practice based in Melbourne, established in late 2015. Winning this year’s Emerging Interior Design Practice at the Australian Interior Design awards with their Bentwood project, an eatery in Fitzroy, Melbourne as well as receiving a Commendation in the Residential Design category for their Highbury Grove project. All of their work promotes originality and sophistication. We love the use of horizontal tiles along the walls of their Highbury Grove house that blend seamlessly to the concrete floor. Not to mention their choice of elegant yet comfy couch selection.

Pattern Studio

Australian based design practice, Pattern Studio won the commendation for Emerging Interior Design Practice at the Australian Interior Design awards with their tde project. Melbourne Flagship store. The practice is made up of two designers, Josh Cain and Lily Goodwin who have experience working with both local and international clients. Their entry in the Australian Interior Design awards boasts stunning and effective simplicity with a calming colour palette represented the client perfectly. A great example of the pastel colour trend we are seeing coming through.
