On Prue Royle's recent inspection tour to Vietnam and Cambodia, she observed that what she has described as "Indochine", incorporates the traditional country flavours of Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos as well as the influence of the Chinese, French and other invading countries. Looking through history's time-line, many centuries of wars and movements of people and their cultures are the key contributors to this fascinating decorative fusion.

(In the beautiful garden surrounding Lifestyle Resort, Prue's home in Hoi An, is a huge pond full of gold fish, where orchids stretch their head over the lily pads)

Never before has the 'East Meets West' decorating theme been so prevalent in the global design scene. Only this time, it has been viewed first hand from the East by Prue Royle, instead of from the West as in the past.

(In Hue, we travel up the Perfume River to the Thien Mu Pagoda in these gorgeous hand painted dragon boats)

Prue was in Vietnam and Cambodia preparing for The Heartful Travellers tour in April.

(As we walked along the ancient streets of Hoi An we were constantly amazed at the colourful displays of silk lanterns that were in such contrast with the textured walls behind them)

Combining relaxation with cultural immersion, The Heartful Travellers open doors into enjoyable travel experiences whilst also giving back to the communities they visit. For design inspiration and adventure join Prue on their first tour for 2010 ‘Colours of Central Vietnam' departing in April. There are only 4 spots left!

(Near the Khai Dinh Tomb in Hue, we watched the traditional craft of making incense sticks for the shrines and temples. The rainbow coloured display of incense sticks was glorious.)

CALL Pam McMurtry on 612 9302 0735 or visit The Heartful Travellers for more information or to book in.
